Pins range in size from approximately 2-1/2" to 5-1/2". They are wrapped with various types of current and vintage variegated ribbon yarns and embellished with doodads that I collect. Pin backs are securely glued to reverse side. No two lizards are alike!
A total of 4 different types of glue is used to make each piece. 2 glues are used to attach pin back to make them extra secure.
A selection of my little guys. They are about 2 inches long. Started making these because I wanted one to put on my Desert Botanical Garden lanyard and they just fit...also sold some to fellow volunteers....
This little guy makes his home on my volunteer lanyard I must wear at Desert Botanical Garden.
Frog pins are 2-1/2" long. I use various variegated ribbon yarns and embellish with new and vintage doodads. All pin backs are glued securely. No 2 pins are alike!
1” very small pin SOLD
Butterflies are approximately 2" and approximately 3" for the large. I use different variegated yarns that are either new or vintage. Embellishments are from my collection of old and new. No two butterflies are alike!
A page from my portfolio....
The next challenge...
Approximately 14" long snake, unattached to object and can sit freely on a flat or rough surface. Remains pliable. (Snake is NOT attached to cactus skeleton in this photo.)
Snake pins are about 5" to 6" long. The pin back is placed usually in the middle of the body so it will lie flat when pinned.
About 5-1/2” pin SOLD
Variegated yarns I use in my projects......
Variegated yarn I use in my projects. One of many types and widths.
An old shawl I found at a resale shop, took it apart and rolled up...what perfect colors!
....some of my "collectable" stash.
A sampling of some of the beads and jewelry findings that my grandmother had that she kept in a large glass jar. Who knows how old some of this stuff was. See the little piece of mesh at the bottom right corner? That is a broken piece of porcelain from one of her German doll skirts. The skirts for these dolls were made of lace dipped in porcelain...my mom still has some of the unbroken ones.
Here is a SMALL sample of yarns......
Here is a picture of our new security door. Reminds me of a saguaro blossom. Notice the 2 lizards that are strategically placed at the bottom of both doors...you'll have to look closely. I couldn't resist......
So, I recently watched a video that was done years ago by Carol Duvall, the crafting guru. She hesitantly showed her audience her craft room...so I decided to show mine here since it closely resembles hers in some ways. I have MANY projects going at the same time, so it does look a mess, but I know where everything is...I'll take pictures of the inside of the cabinets when I have the guts.....and maybe other parts of the room.
Here is my table setup I decided upon. Very simple and that is how I wanted it...burlapy (if that's a word) and all natural. I HAD to put in a few fake cactus (don't even think REAL) since I just love those plants. Easy to set up and take down; that's my motto. As we used to say in the papercrafting biz: KISS, which I think meant "keep it simple....stupid."
YEA! My first "First Friday" downtown Phoenix on Roosevelt Row. Had a good spot and couldn't believe the foot traffic. Sold some large lizards, but got some great contacts for further shows throughout the Valley. A BIG thank you goes to my friend, Jean Schaller, who helped me. What a trooper! My tent went up easily and thankfully the weather cooperated. It sure was on the edge, tho! Sprinkled a bit in the very beginning, but the thunderclouds soon disappeared. The show hours were 6pm to 11pm...lots of food, fun, entertainment. See you next October 2nd. I would highly recommend a visit!

This is a yarn-wrapped sculpture I did which was requested by Liberty Wildlife for an auction. I don't know what it went for, tho......:)
Here is a whimsical horse I made for the Let’s Imagine gift shop in downtown Scottsdale. The next picture is also one. They stand about 10” tall. I haven’t brought them to the store as yet, but trying to make a few more large critters for her display. She wanted larger animals, so hopefully she will like these. I have more pictures to come!
Here is a sculpture I completed which will be a part of a silent auction at Valley Presbyterian Church, Paradise Valley, AZ. This one matches the next image (lizard) which will also be a part of the silent auction. I have NO IDEA how much it will go for....in fact I had a few people who wanted to buy it but I didn't have a clue what to sell it for! This auction is part of Cook's Tour which is a yearly mission event for the church. This year Cook's Tour will be on 11/3/2017 and will also include home tours via mini-bus, a luncheon by Whisk & Chop, Kitchen Treasures (baked goods), Tiffany West (costume jewelry), crafter's boutique (I'm a co-chairman and a few pins will be for sale :)) and a complementary tea table.
